About Us

Established in 1994 by 13 friends from NYC, KSA has grown to over 150 active members. Our club consists of members that own boats and are looking to share their experience.  As well as members that do not own boats and want to learn about sailing by crewing on a boat.

Some of our members are gay or lesbian, while others are straight, bisexual or transgender.  KSA is a friendly, nonjudgmental group of people that have joined the club to share new life experiences on the water.

In 2019, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall and KSA's 25th anniversary. We look forward to doing so with members and friends alike.

On the second Tuesday of every month in season*, we host a dinner meeting open to all of our current members. These meetings are also open to non-members and guests.

The typical agenda for our meeting starts with cocktails and appetizers
between 6:30 - 7:30pm, followed by a general meeting led by our elected board of directors. After the meeting, a buffet dinner is served. The cost of each meeting is $40 (includes buffet) which is collected when you arrive. Click events for further details.

Throughout the year, our organization sponsors special events such as Flotillas, charitable events, group dinners, and training programs. KSA events are for members only. Please click membership to become a member.

We do not rent our boats out or give formal lessons. Our membership is made up of captains and crew. Captains take their boats out at different times: some during the week, some on the weekends. Many appreciate some help from time to time, both with boat projects and sailing, racing or cruising.  So meeting the captains personally and being happy and helpful crew will get you invited to sail!
